Crawl Space Encapsulation Golden & Denver, CO

The living space above your crawl space is often cold because crawlspaces are typically poorly insulated, or the crawlspace is not insulated at all.  We can fix that problem.  See the photos below for before and after photos of the work we typically do in crawl spaces. This is also known as crawl space encapsulation. Crawl space encapsulation includes adding a sealed vapor barrier, insulating crawl space walls and rim joists (framing above the exterior masonry walls), and sealing air leaks. Vented crawlspaces were common before the code was changed to allow “conditioned”, or heated and cooled, crawl spaces. Conditioned crawl spaces work better than crawl spaces with insulation in the floor over them, because we want to keep water pipes and ducts in that space warm.

Above: Before and after insulating and adding soil moisture barrier to the crawlspace.  Notice the bare dirt, which was going airborne and getting into the leaky duct system.  We installed a sealed crawl space soil moisture barrier (aka crawl space vapor barrier) and insulated the walls.  Now the house is clean and warm, and the homeowners are very happy!
